Balandra Beach and San Rafaelito

Balandra Beach and San Rafaelito

Information: Who doesn't love sun, sand and crystal-clear waters. Playa Balandra is one of the most beautiful and highly protected beaches in Mexico. It ranks world-class. This coastal wetland is surrounded by a system of mangroves, dunes, cacti and areas with archaeological remains from prehistoric times. The water colors are indescribable and hypnotizing. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling and beach walking  before heading out to swim with the sea lions at San Rafaelito Rock. The areas has a small coral reef playing host to a plethora of marine life and supports an impressive number of coastal birds. The sea lions here have established their own colony and have recently started pupping. Includes: A short walk along the Malecon to the company office where you will be fitted for lifejacket, snorkel, mask and wetsuit. Lunch, beverages and snacks. NOT included is the crew gratuity. It is highly recommended guests have good swimming skills. Guests will be required to sign a standard industry waiver prior to departure.

Information: Across the bay from the Malecon lies the Mogote mangrove forest. A labyrinth of mangroves featuring 4 types of mangrove trees and home to many resident and migratory birds. It is a safe-haven for juvenile fish and other marine animals looking for shelter. It has protected the city from the unpredictability of tropical storms and hurricanes. Also, in the Bay of La Paz is a hidden treasure where rare and world-class bird watching can be experienced. Enjoy a calm, serene morning lost in Ensenada de La Paz. Your guide is an expert in the field sharing with guests the amazing natural history of the area. Includes:  Hotel transportation (La Paz), guide, equipment and light lunch. Information: The islands of Espiritu Santo and La Partida are said to be some of the most beautiful islands in the Sea of Cortez. Its crystal blue waters teeming with amazing marine life is a snorkelers dream come true. The highlight of the tour (from September to May) is the chance of a lifetime to swim with sea lions. Discover a spectacular microecosystem chocked full of birds, sea lions, fish, coral and more. Often whales, dolphins and mobula rays can be seen. Includes: A short walk along the Malecon to the company office where you will be fitted for lifejacket, snorkel, mask and wetsuit. Lunch, beverages and snacks. NOT included is the crew gratuity. Information: The Bay of La Paz is one of the most important feeding areas in the world for juvenile whale sharks. As the largest fish in the world they can be found feeding on the surface allowing the snorkelers to approach and swim alongside. They are docile, harmless and beautiful, allowing for an amazing up close and personal experience. Our certified bilingual guide will instruct and be in the water alongside you to ensure you have a safe and memorable experience. Includes: A short walk along the Malecon to the company office where you will be fitted for lifejacket, snorkel, mask and wetsuit. beverages and light snacks. NOT included is the crew gratuity. It is highly recommended guests have good swimming skills. Guests will be required to sign a standard industry waiver prior to departure. Leaves Daily at 7:30am|10:30am|12:30pm.

Information: The Bay of La Paz is a unique area offering some of the rarest marine experiences and encounters. We will start with the whale shark snorkel at Mogote, then head out to San Rafaelito to swim with the California sea lions. The whale sharks are docile harmless and beautiful while the sea lions are more playful, The areas has a small coral reef playing host to a plethora of marine life and supports an impressive number of coastal birds. Gray Whales of Magdalena Bay

Information: Early rise! Magdalena Bay is world renowned for gray whale interaction with humans. It is one of three nurseries and breeding grounds of the Pacific gray whales. During the months of Dec – Mar. the gray whales, after a 5000 mile migration south,  gather in the protected lagoons where breeding or birthing takes place.  Glimpse into the mysterious world of these amazing cetaceans. Note: Our Gray Whale day trips are private and opened to guests booked through Panterra only. We place a maximum 6 guests + naturalist per panga not the normal 8 - 14 people. Our trips are 2-3 hours in length in the area of the gray whales and not the normal 2 hours. Includes:  Hotel transportation (La Paz), ranchero style breakfast enroute, 2 hours of whale watching, naturalist and a delicious fresh seafood lunch after whale watching (vegetarian available). Information: Take a journey back in time exploring the history of mining in Baja California Sur. Visit an abandoned mine dating back to the 1930's. Enjoy lunch (guest responsibility) at one of the local restaurants with our recommendations the El Minera Restaurant. After lunch a quick walk to the Museo del Vaqueros de las Californias. Both museums are extremely informative and enlightening. Baja California Sur played a big role on the world stage for both mining and cattle rearing. Sea Turtle Hatchling Adventure

Sea Turtle Hatchling Adventure

Information: Early rise! The Sea of Cortez plays host to the birth of millions of sea turtles. From June through to Nov. when the females become reproductive they return to their birth place to lay their eggs. Where possible, turtle conservationists collect the clutches (nests) and relocate them to a safe, controlled environment until they hatch. Once hatched they are immediately released back to the sea. 1 in 1000 hatchlings will survive. After the turtle release enjoy a light breakfast returning to La Paz through a stunning alternative route filled with breathtaking scenery.  Includes:  Hotel transportation (La Paz), guide, turtle donation, light breakfast, snacks and beverages. Information: Discover the treasures of the Baja desert. Enjoy a short hike in search of million year old fossils and arrowheads left behind from past indigenous cultures. Visit an abandoned, 200 year old, winery located in the heart of an oasis. Experience a family community of vaqueros raising cattle and other domestic animals sustained by natural water springs. The family also grows an impressive garden to feed not just their families but the ranch animals as well. Learn of the story where 7 areas of gold have been buried and yet not found. Information: Located on the southern Baja California Peninsula, the Sierra de la Laguna is an ecologically significant and breathtaking mountain range with rugged peaks, lush forests, and sparkling waterfalls. Nestled in this adventurers paradise is one of the oldest ranches maintaining a traditional lifestyle. Your ranch guide will share with you many ancestral stories passed down through the generations. Enjoy a ranch tour, hiking, swimming, birdwatching and indulge yourself in a Mexican traditional cooking class (your lunch). Even try your hand at milking a goat to make ranch goat cheese. Information: Camp San Dionisio by Panterra is situated on the ancestral lands of one of the oldest cowboy ranches in the San Dionisio Canyon of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains . Our drivers will pick up/drop off from Cabo or La Paz Airport, and the Cabo – La Paz corridor. Part of your ranch experience includes glamping-style lodgings and a variety of activities such as nature hiking, exploring the Pericu trail to cave paintings, classes in traditional Mexican cuisine, leather making, and basket weaving, feeding/milking farm animals as part of the process in learning how to make ranch cheese and touring the organic garden (from where your meals are provided). By night enjoy world-class stargazing or relax in the social area where guests are welcomed to mingle with other guests and engage in social activities such as cards, cribbage, backgammon and more.

Transportation

Information: Our transportation service offers friendly and professionally trained staff fully licensed and experienced. The vans are up-to-date models including 14 passenger Toyota Hiace, 11 passenger Hyundai Starex and 10 passenger Econoline. Our vans are clean, full-size coaches with federal tourist plates, commercial insurance and all necessary permits for pick up/drop off at hotels and airports. Transfers are tracked through driver communications. Safety and comfort are our highest priority. Transfers operate between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. We do not transfer guests during non daylight hours due to hazards of livestock feeding along and crossing the highway in unfenced areas.
